MISSION OVER COMPETITION

Despite recent progress, only 40% of 3rd graders in Dallas County reach ‘on grade level' for literacy. Students who reach that benchmark are 4x more likely to graduate than peers who are less proficient readers. We have proven that high-quality, targeted intervention in the early grades can help students learn to read so they can read to learn, graduate from high school, and be prepared for whatever they choose next.

WE ARE BETTER TOGETHER

Read Up is dedicated to improving reading outcomes for elementary students in North Texas with the vision that all students will read on grade level by third grade, creating a vital foundation for college and career readiness. By sharing with transparency, aligning strengths and resources, and delivering layered programming, we deepen our impact and expand our reach. Through a collective impact approach, Read Up creates opportunities for nonprofit organizations that contribute to the community’s literacy ecosystem to learn, operate and serve together.

The collective model includes:
   • in-school tutoring with volunteers
   • after school and summer tutoring
   • parent workshops and at-home resources
   • teacher professional development
